Clays are used in skincare routine to tone, cleanse, exfoliate, and to enhance the feel of the skin. Some clays are also used to tighten large pores and to absorb excess Oils from the skin.
But unfortunately, you can’t just pick up any clay and use in your mask or your skincare routine. You need to first understand your skin type before delving into selecting the appropriate clay.

Recommended Clays For All Skin Types
Sensitive and Dry Skin
If you have a sensitive or dry skin, you may try:
- White Kaolin
- Rhassoul Clay
Note: Don’t use any of these clays more than twice a week, and rinse the clay off after 15 minutes
Blemish and Oily Skin
If have an oily skin, you can use any of these clays:
- Fuller’s Earth
- French Green
- Bentonite Clay
- Rhassoul
Normal Skin
If your skin type is normal, you can employ any of these clays as your special skin treat:
- White Kaolin
- Fuller’s Earth
- Bentonite Clay
- French Green
- Rhassoul
So, we can say Rhassoul is a great clay for all skin types.
Also note, if you’re mixing any of these clays, especially Bentonite clay, you should use a wooden utensil…and not a plastic, steel, stainless, or other material.
