8 Skin and Hair Uses of Vanilla Absolute You Should Know

Vanilla Absolute is extracted from Vanilla planifolia, a native species of the Orchidaceae family (little pod) using an initially non-polar solvent like benzene followed by alcohol (ethanol) or by pressurizing the vanilla pods with C02 gas.

Unlike other essential oils, vanilla oil cannot be extracted by steam distillation because it is delicate.

First found in Mexico, Vanilla tree is now grown throughout the world with Madagascar and Indonesia the world’s leading grower.

Vanilla beans, from which the Vanilla Absolute is derived, is loaded with over 200 health, skin and hair benefits some of which are anise alcohol, guaiacol, and hydroxybenzaldehyde (which are responsible for the pleasant vanilla aroma).

It also contains isovaleric acid, acetic acid, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 4-methylguaiacol, and more. Plus, it contains vitamin B complex, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and more.

You may get the same nutrients by infusing your Vanilla Pod in your chosen carrier oil for 2 or more weeks. Chop your vanilla pods, add them into a bottle of carrier oil (I prefer sunflower oil or jojoba oil), and keep the bottle in a cool, dry place, away from light.

Shake the bottle every morning. Note that what you get is NOT a vanilla absolute but an infused vanilla oil.

Now let’s look at some of Vanilla Absolute skin and hair uses.
